Ethiopian Wolf Canis simensis Distinguished by its bright red fur and long skull, the Ethiopian Wolf is the most endangered African carnivore and one of the rarest canids. These wolves live in packs of around 20 animals and feed almost exclusively on small rodents, it is this specialisation that has lead to them becoming endangered.

Classified as Threatened by the IUCN with as little as 360 adult individuals living in the wild. The Ethiopian Wolf has a very limited range, with populations in only a few isolated mountain ranges including the Bale Mountains in Ethiopia.
